VOL02LL Volvo FH Low Loader - Heanor Haulage
This model is in the well-known UK livery of Heanor Haulage. The company's history goes back to 1936 when it started as a coal merchant - Heanor Coal & Haulage, delivering bagged coal for domestic use. During WWII, the Government acquired the firm's vehicles for military purpose. After the War, Jack Searson, demobbed from the Army, bought the dormant company with his brother Ken to form the Heanor Haulage Company. Although sadly, neither Ken nor Jack are with us today, their sons Peter and Ian are carrying on the family tradition, quietly building on their success, with operations as far as field as Saudi Arabia.
Peter - a former motor engineer - also specialises in developing vehicles to his own specification. Known as Heanor Heavy Transport, his modifications include the spacious Volvo sleeper cabs hauling equally ambitions and successful conversions to many basic low loaders. In 1996, the company moved to its present site at Langley Mill in Nottinghamshire.
